As a special thank you for all your patience while we worked through the frustrating problems with our newsletter format and the non-working Read More links, everyone who was a registered member of the web site as of last weekend has been given 500 bonus points! Many of you may not yet be familiar with the concept behind the points system we use so we've posted an article on our web site that explains it. (Although the article is publicly available, be sure to log in to read it. Doing so will earn you additional bonus points, just for logging in and reading the article!)
We also have some of the most straightforward, no-nonsense member policies you will find anywhere. There's an article spelling those out as well. (Again, logging in to read the article earns you bonus points!)
Everyone who was a subscriber to our newsletter when it was still in the old format has automatically been entered into the system as registered users. If you have not logged in yet, you should have gotten an email with your user ID and password. If you did not, or can't find the email, contact us at support@MoreSatisfyingPhotos.com and we'll be glad to help you out.
This is such an exciting week here at MoreSatisfyingPhotos. Aside from getting the points system working, we have posted our first paid instructional content. It's not a true lesson in the format we have planned (those are coming!) but it is a very interesting and fun way to learn about several fundamental concepts in photography and how they are connected.
There are a number of topics posted, including a "sample" topic that you can review for free. (The sample topic has real content but is smaller and less comprehensive than the paid topics.) Now that you find yourself with a bank of points, why not check them out?
We've also installed the capability for users to comment and vote on articles and other content. Please try it out and let us know what you think! Your feedback is very important to us. For now, we will not moderate the comments however we may review them. We want honesty, even if it's unflattering but will promptly delete spam, abusive comments or anything not appropriate for all ages.
We've institued a new menu system on MoreSatisfyingPhotos (but not yet on MoreSatisfyingHobbies.) Now, when you click on some menu items, they automatically expand to reveal additional menu items. We obviously cannot test this with every possible combination of web browser, operating system, etc. If you try it and it doesn't work for you, please let us know right away by writing to webmaster@MoreSatisfyingPhotos.com. We want everything to be perfect for you!
The MoreSatisfying family of web sites now has multi-language support! Thanks to Google Translations, there is a new option on every page that will let you translate that page into any one of 54 different languages! Since we obviously don't speak that many languages ourselves we can't vouch for the accuracy of the translations, but we still consider it very exciting news.
We're still having trouble tying some of the bits and pieces of your profile information together in one place. (For example, the software driving the above-mentioned points system likes to keep track of your points on its own rather than intergrate that data with the rest of your profile.) We'll update you in a future issue on our progress in that area.
Please note that some of the articles in this week's newsletter may become paid content (or be used as the basis for paid content) at some future date. As such, we've set them so that only registered users can see them. That means you will have to be logged in for the Read More links to work with those articles.
